THE TOWN OF WINCHESTER, The town of Winchester, is a city in Middlesex County, Massachusetts and is eight miles north of downtown Boston. It is considered to be an affluent community with for working professionals with a traditional New England charm with its downtown lined with brick sidewalks and lanterns. The land was initially purchased from Native Americans and the town was settled in the 1640s. Parts of Arlington, Medford, Cambridge & Woburn comprised what is now Winchester back in the middle 19th century. The town has an area of 6.3 square miles including several bodies of water including Mystic Lakes, Wedge Pond that offers a popular swimming spot, Winter Pond and the Aberjona River. On the eastern part of town lie the wooded hills of the Middlesex Fells Reservation.
It also offers the Winchester Boat Club where locals can sail on the Mystic Lakes. The Winchester Swim and Tennis Club provide a large swimming pool, five hard tennis courts, and bocce courts to its members. For gold lovers, Winchester has its own Winchester Country Club with a beautiful 18-hole course for its members. It is a great community offering affluent suburban areas with beautiful homes , a great public school system and public transportation that goes directly into Boston.
